PEARLS for Destiny, Inc. (PEARLS) is a 501(c)(3) Christian Faith-base nonprofit organization with the purpose of advancing the next generation of female leaders and role models. PEARLS is committed to being the community’s signature program for maximizing self-development by combating core challenges including fear, doubt, bullying, cliques and media pressure as well as building up positive qualities including confidence, kindness, self-respect, inner beauty and goal-setting.
The creation of true partnerships will result in building and living the PEARLS attributes of Passionate, Empowered, Anointed, Righteous, Ladies, Set Apart for Destiny. PEARLS is an innovative program for young ladies ages 12 – 25 in San Antonio area and surrounding communities. PEARLS is currently a volunteer effort in response to the tremendous need for quality female focused and driven mentor outreach programs. The PEARLS Leadership Team shadowed effective leadership development models for the core elements of PEARLS curriculum, plus involved the PEARLS Member Advisory Council (made up of members from PEARLS) in helping with the development of the programs content.
In addition, the team leaned on national research that demonstrated effective strategies for successful girl programs. The following proven techniques are integrated into the PEARLS model: multiple sessions, multi-generational interaction and activities, girl-only safe space, girls having a voice in the implementation of the program design, integration of emotional intelligence skills, opportunities to participate in community leadership projects, and ensuring that staff and programs are culturally suitable. PEARLS offers a safe-place for gatherings, individual and group discussions at a minimum of once a month, after school and on Saturdays, depending upon the designated location.
